This project was a part of a challenge for myself to create a compelling story without going over the 500-word limit. In Bonds Choked in Ash, I wrote out the backstory of two characters a friend and I created for a Dungeons & Dragons game. The extra challenge here was to show who these characters are while still having an interesting story play out.
This story focuses on a young soldier and his friend as they march towards a mysterious ravine as their first field mission. Piles of ash clutter the landscape as they progress. Perfect for an ambush.
